About Us
Who is Prairie Opportunity?
Chartered in 1965 as a multi-purpose Community Action Agency (CAA), Prairie Opportunity exists to serve the residents of the Golden Triangle Development District, providing services to the needs of low-income families, the elderly and disabled in Choctaw, Clay, Noxubee, Leake, Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Webster and Winston Counties.
Our Weatherization Program extends our services to these additional counties as well: Attala, Carroll, Grenada, Holmes, Montgomery, Yalobusha, and Leflore.
Though our primary service area is Choctaw, Clay, Noxubee, Leake, Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Webster and Winston County, Prairie Opportunity Inc is proud to provide services to the residents living in our combined 14 county area.
Meet Our Executive Director: Laura A. Marshall
Executive Director Laura A. Marshall has been actively involved with Prairie Opportunity since 1981. She served as a Case Worker, Case Manager and Case Manager Supervisor before being promoted to her role as Executive Director.
Laura A. Marshall is a graduate of Eupora High School and attended Mississippi Valley State University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. She then continued her education and earned her Social Work license from the Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Social Workers and Marriage and Families Therapists.
Her strong Faith in God and desire to serve the community has been the backbone of her ministry and passion to help others. Laura is quick to give all Glory to God for the Great Things He Has Done. She serves in the community as a leader in her church, where she has attended for more than 48 years.
